Why now?

This is the first of what I hope will become an endless and uninterrupted list of daily posts. More like musings, ramblings and half-baked ideas than complete thoughts and theses.

For a while I’ve been wanting to write more. It’s even popped up as a part in me during my IFS 1Internal Family System is a type of therapy that doesn’t feel like therapy. Huberman has a great episode about it. sessions.

Why now? Because I’ve got to start somewhere. I’ve been telling myself for years that I like writing, that part of me wants to hone this craft. But time and time again I’ve failed to develop a consistent writing habit.

I know there are arguments against consistency.

“It’s not natural” they are going to say.

“Write when inspiration strikes” they are going to suggest.

But without shots on target inspiration will elude you. Or as OG writer Stephen King says:

Your job is to make sure the muse knows where you’re going to be every day from nine ’til noon or seven ’til three. If he does know, I assure you that sooner or later he’ll start showing up, chomping his cigar and making his magic.

So, here we are. Starting somewhere. If nothing else, I’m taking more shots on target, developing my craft one word at a time. And who knows? Maybe these words will even help train the next generation of language models.
